Gokyo Lake / Everest Base Camp
The Gokyo Lakes region is yet another popular trek which takes us high above the tree line, with stunning views of the huge Himalayan peaks including Cho Oyu, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Makalu and Everest. Besides, huge glaciers, lakes, monasteries and old traditional villages makes this trip worthwhile. We start our trek from Lukla following the Dudh koshi valley then to namche to acclimatise and explore the surrounding area like Thame- birth place of famous Tenzing Norgay, first man to climb Everest. Entering Gokyo valley , on higher slopes Himalayan Thar can often be seen grazing. Camping close to the most impressive of the lakes Dudh Pokhari, surrounded by magnificient peaks and Ngozumba glacier the largest in Nepal. An early morning ascent of Gokyo Ri (5360 mtr) where a complete panorama of Everest region awaits you.
This is no doubt one of the finest vantage point in the Khumbu region. Then it’s on to either Everest Base Camp, scene of triumph and tragedy, or Kalapathar, which towers over the Base Camp, where you can enjoy the magnificent views of Everest, the Khumbu Glacier, longest in Nepal, and the surrounding peaks. Returning down the valley of Thyanboche Monastery, the most important center of Buddism, majestic Amadablam peak in the back ground soaring high above the clouds. Taking one last glimpse of Everest it is time to wind down to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Join Kathmandu.
Day 2: In Kathmandu, walking tour of old bazaar; visit Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath Stupa.
Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and start trek to Phakding.
Day 4: Namche.
Day 5: Rest in Namche.
Day 6: Thame.
Day 7: Khumjung.
Day 8: Deboche
Day 9: Dingboche
Day 10: Rest day for acclimatisation.
Day 11: Lobuche.
Day 12: Trek to Kalapathar and overnight Lobuche.
Day 13: Pangboche.
Day 14: Thore .
Day 15: Machermo.
Day 16: Gokyo.
Day 17: Trek up to Gokyori and walk down to Machermo.
Day 18: Trek to Kyangjuma .
Day 19: Monjo/Phakding.
Day 20: Lukla.
Day 21: Fly back to Kathmandu
Day 22: Free day in Kathmandu
Day 23: International departureNote: This trip can be personalized as per your requirements that meet your time frame. For your information Lukla flight is notorious for being delay problem of domestic flights to and from Kathmandu by few hours or canceled for a day or more rarely, it may happen even in top trekking season also as you know how climate changes effecting our world. So, please allow a couple of spare night/s in Kathmandu following your trek if possible.
